MEP Manager
Narrative Description
The MEP Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and operation of mechanical and electrical systems across a range of real estate projects, including commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments. This leadership role will involve managing a team of engineers, coordinating with other disciplines, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving energy-efficient and sustainable solutions across multiple projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of mechanical and electrical engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and in accordance with project goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Oversee the design and development of mechanical and electrical systems for new construction, renovation, and redevelopment projects. Ensure the integration of these systems into the overall building design, including HVAC, electrical power distribution, lighting, fire safety, plumbing, and backup power systems.
- Work closely with architects, structural engineers and contractors to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical systems within each project. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet all functional and operational requirements.
- Develop and manage budgets for MEP systems, monitor costs, and ensure that projects stay within financial constraints. Evaluate cost proposals from contractors and vendors and negotiate terms to optimize cost-efficiency.
- Manage relationships with external contractors, suppliers, and service providers. Review proposals, select vendors, and monitor performance to ensure that electrical and mechanical installations are completed to high standards and in line with contractual agreements.
- Oversee the preparation of technical documentation, including design plans, specifications, reports, and regulatory compliance records. Provide regular progress reports to senior management on MEP project status.
- Provide expert technical support and problem-solving during the construction and post-construction phases, addressing any issues that arise with mechanical and electrical systems. Resolve issues promptly to minimize project disruptions.

Job Specifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- 10 to 15 years of experience in MEP systems design, implementation, and project management, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in real estate, commercial construction, or large-scale developments.
- Expertise in the design and implementation of both mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, lighting, fire protection, and plumbing.
- Strong project management skills, including experience with budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- In-depth knowledge of MEP systems integration and the ability to manage complex projects across multiple disciplines.
- Thorough understanding of local and national building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements for MEP systems.
- Proficiency in MEP design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
- Must be self-motivated and a great team worker.
Skills:
- Ability to research, compile, and interpret data in a logical format.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills and ability to successfully perform in-depth analyses.
- Must possess strong attention to detail and the ability to see the big picture.
- Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Access.
- Good in spoken and written English.
